If you’ve ended up here, you’re wanting to find out about me, Annie Fassler, the author of Serious Crust. It’s always a bit awkward, writing about yourself like this, and I never quite know where to start. I live in Portland, OR but I also spend a lot of time in Seattle, WA, where I grew up, and I travel a fair amount too. Spending so much of my life in the Pacific Northwest means I love gray, rainy days. It also means I love seafood and am partial to beer from smaller local breweries.
Food has always been very important in my life. Both of my parents are amazing cooks, always experimenting and playing in the kitchen. They taught me that, while food is of course necessary for survival, it is more importantly a way to bring people together and make them feel nourished and comforted. There is nothing I love more than spending a day in the kitchen cooking a meal (with my Ella Fitzgerald and Louie Armstrong Pandora station) to eat with people I love. On this blog I will share any thoughts on food: recipes, ingredients, tools and equipment, cookbooks, restaurants, inspirations, and struggles.
Other things you should know about me:
I am a fan of not-so-sweet desserts.
I love all things sour: beer, candy, fruit, and more.
I hate washing lettuce.
I like to knit.
